THE past couple of weeks has certainly been busy with ladies travelling to various open days and, more recently, Eastern and Upper Great Southern co-hosted championships in Kulin.
Jan Painter, Fe Thompson and Bron Hegarty were joined by former Waginite Vicki Kelly.
This was the first time the event has been co-hosted in an effort to boost numbers.
It certainly succeeded in that regard with 103 playing in the four ball and 80 playing in the main event over two days.
Kulin's hospitality was tremendous and Klub Kulin went off with a bang on the Wednesday night with everyone being treated to a sit down dinner and being waited on by the guys from the men's golf club.
There was entertainment all night and much singing and dancing.
On top of all that Fe Thompson took out runner-up in the gross for Upper Great Southern.
Last week saw Wagin ladies host their open day.
The weather was perfect and some good scores were returned.
There were 17 clubs represented with a field of 43.
The club thanked sponsors Golf Downunder, Ward family, Ian Murdoch, Iris Riseborough, Lois Dohle, Bill Tulley, Radio Great Southern, Paper N Lace and Wagin Panel and Paint.
Thanks to their generosity there were a lovely array of prizes to be won.
Thank you also to the guys who helped in the office, bar and ferrying buggies and players around the course.
Rhonda Dowdell supervised the kitchen with a willing band of helpers and the food was awesome.
Of course there must be winners (definitely no losers though).
A-grade nett was won by Leonie Kirby (Narrogin) and the runner-up was Wendy Dawson (Katanning).
B-grade nett was won by Heather Cant (Katanning) and runner-up on a countback was Viv Lloyd (Cottesloe).
The gross was taken out by Daphne Nicholas (Narrogin) from Kerrie O'Halloran (Katanning).
The veteran's trophy was won by Robin Dunham and the long marker trophy won by Margie Ward.
This week is the Upper Great Southern foursomes championships in Wickepin.
Good luck to Fe Thompson and Jan Painter and Heather Painter and Jenny Ewen as they compete.
Next week sees the ladies play their semi-finals.
There are two fours playing off: Fe Thompson and Gwen Bosenberg; Jan Painter and Robin Dunham; Heather Painter and Bron Hegarty; Di Davidson and Jenny Ewen.
