THE quarter finals of the club championship were played in conjunction with the CSBP sponsored stableford on the weekend.
The in-form golfer at the moment Trevor Patterson, playing off an 18 handicap, went within a whisker of causing the upset of the decade, when he took defending champion and multiple winner Ken Adams, to the 18th hole before going down by one.
The winner of the stableford competition turned up in Bob Stephens with an excellent 43 points.
Gareth Finlayson picked up the runner-up trophy returning 41 points.
Jeff Riseborough, Greg Stephens, Trevor Patterson, Tony Bate and Norm Broom all had good days, coming in with 40 points.
Novelties went to Jason Retallack, Gareth Finlayson, Ken Adams and Jeff Riseborough.
In the championship play-off Ken Adams defeated Trevor Patterson one up, Jayden Ewen defeated Gerard Hegarty 3/2, Bob Stephens defeated Greg Stephens one up, Andrew Gath defeated Wayne Hegarty 7/5, Peter Jenkin defeated Allan Retallack 5/4, Reece Taylor defeated Ken George two up, Gareth Finlayson defeated Norm Broom two up, John Thompson defeated Geof Cheriton 19th, Des Thompson defeated Troy Watt 5/3, Merv Stonehouse defeated Dave Hill 3/2, Locko Ballantyne defeated Jeff Riseborough one up are Rob Berwick defeated Mark Haverkort 3/2.
