Dumbleyung women were victorious over Pingelly for the B grade Challenge Cup played on Saturday.
The team comprised of eight players when the starting whistle blew, with two players turning up shortly after.
It took a while for the team to settle, sorting out positions to best cope with being a player short.
Then the play started to look threatening with players linking up and passing nicely.
Renee Willmott scored a goal with Pingelly quickly equalising until Willmott scored another goal of a short corner.
Dumbleyung had most of the attack but Pingelly had some dangerous breakaways, one resulting in a goal.
With the clock ticking down, it looked to be a 2-2 draw with flicks looming.
A short was forced and as the final whistle blew it came down to the wire.
Jane Smith passed directly out to Carmen Bairstow who slammed the ball at the goals where Jane Smith was waiting to deflect it in, resulting in the winning goal.
The game ended with a fortunate but hard fought 3-2 win.
Best players: Carmen Bairstow, Renee Willmott, Laura Ward.
Saturday's game is 1.15pm at the Turf with the men following at 4.05pm.
