WAGIN Bowling Club president Jeanette Draper welcomed 26 visiting teams (104 women) on February 18 and 19 for the club's annual jackpot fours.
Teams travelled from Esperance, Hopetoun, Albany, Newdegate, Rockingham, Gnowangerup, Corrigin, Kulin, Bunbury to attend the popular event.
All neighbouring clubs were also represented.
Temperatures over the two days soared, making play uncomfortable in otherwise perfect conditions.
But the competition was completed in true country style, with old acquaintances renewed and new friendships made.
Norma Patterson from the Katanning club celebrated her 85th birthday playing bowls on the Thursday.
The club presented her with a posy of rosebuds to congratulate her.
A variety of raffles were also enjoyed and the prizes were spread throughout the players.
The winning team over the two days was from Bunbury Bowling Club and was made up of Eileen Trantham, Anne Blechynden, Gwen Davey and Lesley Brown.
Second place was Peg Argent's team from Kulin and third place was Margaret Witham's team from Middleton Beach.
Thursday's winners were Maureen Turner's team from Emu Point and Friday's winners were J Hovell's team from Corrigin.
The five round winners were L McNamara (Hopetoun), J Ingram (Middleton Beach), S Fryer (Darkan), M Innes (Katanning) and N Norrish (Kojonup).
Many thanks to all the sponsors, players and members who contributed in any way to the success of the jackpot fours and two wonderful days of bowls.
