THE Wagin Darts Association grand final was held on Saturday, August 28 and started with the B-grade grand final.
The understated Spitfires team faced off with only five team members present against the Allstars Dumbleyung team, who had their six and two players in reserve.
With only five members to make up the team Spitfires came out fighting and won the first triples game and lost the second playing one man down being the notable handicap.
Captain Rosemary Warren chose to play Gloria Bliss on her own against the two Allstars players in the first doubles game which lead to Allstars getting their second point on the board.
This spelled the end of the points scoring for Allstars with Spitfires having gained the next five points won the match six – two securing the B-grade grand final trophy.
The A-grade grand final followed with Woodanilling facing off against multi A-grade winners Morans.
Woodanilling came in with a strong team representation of eight members, the six playing and two in reserve against the six man team of Morans.
The finishing score line of Morans six defeating Woodanilling three did not adequately demonstrate how closely the match was played, with all games coming down to the peg.
After the game Morans captain Tom Spurr said he had been really nervous in the lead up to the match knowing that the Woodanilling team would give Morans a run for their money.
After the matches were played the wind-up dinner was held in the main dining room of Morans Hotel this was followed by the presentations of the seasons awards and trophies.
