THE Woolorama office was again inundated with entries from riders from Kellerberrin to Denmark to participate in the Wagin Riding and Pony Club’s annual event at the Wagin Woolorama on Saturday.
The breakfast barbecue started at 6.30am and the atmosphere on the grounds was buzzing bright and early.
With 55 riders ranging in age from five-60 competing in the gymkhana-style event, the Pony Club’s grounds were a hive of activity.
At 9am all the competitors were saddled up and ready to go for their first event for the day.
While the spectators relaxed with a cup of tea under the newly erected veranda at the Pony Club clubroom, the riding groups rotated through the four stations of hacking, games, handy pony and jackpot showjumping.
By 1pm the competition was over and it was time to find out the highest point earners of the groups.
Funorama was sponsored by Ballard Seeds of Narrogin, Europa Saddlery of Albany, Morton Seeds of Wagin, Cresswells of Wagin, Wagin Transport of Wagin and many others to put together a great range of prizes.
The top three of each group received trophies donated by the Woolorama and bags of horse feed donated by Morton Seeds.
The winner of each group also took home a major prize donated by Ballard Seeds.
However with the aim of the day was to have as much laughter and fun as possible so nobody went home empty handed.
Wagin Riding and Pony Club made up their own show bags full of treats for the rider and something special for their horses for every participant, which were donated by Europa Saddlery of Albany.
With another successful Funorama over until next year, Wagin Riding and Pony Club thanked the Wagin Shire for all their help with the success of the Royalties for Regions grant.
This grant was used to make the clubroom more comfortable with insulation and a verandah.
Thank you to all the people who donated their time to help on the day and congratulations to all the competitors for showing such great sportsmanship with the cheering of their fellow riders.
It is such a joy to see the laughter and friendliness shown between all the competitors.
It is this mateship that makes the Wagin Woolorama Funorama a must on many horse owners' calendars every year.
