WITH Country Week in full swing and a 40 degree Celsius day, only six players took up the challenge and a halfway break was welcomed.
On rink three Mary Riseborough, Mark Oakley and Bernie Welland had a few minor problems with the green.
At the halfway mark, Oakley and Riseborough had a comfortable lead of eight over Welland and Oakley was still working out the better hand.
All players improved in the second half and Welland took the lead on the last two ends. The final score was Welland on 54 points, Riseborough 46 and Oakley 32. On rink four Bob Stephens, Norm Broom and Clyde Douglas did battle. Good bowling from Broom saw him leading at the halfway mark, with Stephens and Douglas close on his tail. Broom kept on the pressure and swept away clean to the end, which was good bowling. The final sore was Broom 52 points, Douglas 45 and
Stephens 35.
Welland and Broom played the two end final with Broom winning 6-4.
Sroungers will be held next week on March 4 at the same time and it is hoped more players can come along.
Congratulations to the winner of the men’s Country Week and good luck to the ladies in their Country Week challenge.
