THERE was a good turnout of horses and riders on Saturday for the Narrogin Equestrian Association’s first fixture of the year – a combined training day and Prix Caprilli Challenge.
Despite the hot weather conditions in the afternoon, there were good performances by both senior and junior entrants who came from as far away as Katanning, Albany and Kukerin.
Judges on the day were Anne Battley and Monique Potter and their feedback and comments were well appreciated by the participants.
The Simron Transport Prix Caprilli Challenge was well-contested with the senior section won by Louise Eastwood riding Jewels.
Linda Page and Cavatino’s Boy took second place and Roxie Taylor on Moonstone Australis was third.
In the junior section, Emily Early and Trentlyn Joel were the winners with Emily Gray on Deltry Invader second and Sienna Bergersen and Beelo-Bi Moondyne Joe third.
The year will be a busy one for the association with the move to its new grounds in Cuballing already under way. The next event at the grounds is expected to be the Narrogin Dressage Championships in early June for which the association has just received funding from the Dressage WA Development Fund.
