NUMBERS were down from last week at mid week scroungers bowls on Thursday, but 14 keen players braved the heat.
On rink two Neridah Monck, Ron Matters, Bernie Welland and Fe Thompson played out the 18 ends.
With the women fresh from a hard day's play in their singles competition, they made it hard for the men to get a score.
With Thompson playing some good bowls she went into the final with a total of 37, with Monck next on 30, followed by Matters on 24 and Welland on 17.
On rink three with Martin Wood, Ken Preston and Norm Broom, Preston was in good touch and picking up three sixes during his game he went into the final with 54 shots.
Broom tried hard to peg him back and finished with 48, followed by Wood on 30.
On rink four Ross Hunt, Phil Harris and Bob Stephens were an even tussle from start to finish, with Hunt getting over the line with 48 shots, followed by Harris and Stephens on 42 each.
Rink five with Diane Stephens, Mary Riseborough. Chris Lowrie and Ben Pearce found Stephens in good form when she out-bowled them to go into the final with 46 shots, followed by Lowrie on 27.
Then Riseborough, who only had four shots at the first half finished on 20.
Pearce could not get into the game and finding too many open gates, he only scored 15.
In the four end final with Ken Preston, Ross Hunt, Diane Stephens and Fe Thompson, it was an even game after three ends, with Preston, Stephens and Thomspon all on six.
Then the women decided to make a day of it with Thompson gaining three, Stephens two and Hunt lucky to save face with one.
The women’s day saw Thompson declared the winner on nine, Stephens runner-up with eight, Preston on six and Hunt on one.
Scroungers will be held next week and names should be in by 1.30pm for a 2pm start.
