LAST Saturday, December 10, the Great Southern Kart held its fun day and wind-up for 2011, with nearly 30 drivers coming for an afternoon of fun and games, including some unlicensed drivers.
For this meeting, it was decided to try something different and have a team event, in which each junior driver was paired up with a senior KT driver.
All the drivers had a blast with this format, as it was something different for a change.
At the end of the meeting, the team of Daniel Carleton and Neil Morrell came out on top, even racing each other for the Freddo frog at the presentations!
Ethan Pimblett and Sally McDougall were tied for second with Tristan Shepherd and Luke Nardini.
After the Freddos were given out, it was time to move onto the end of year presentations.
Leo Nardini won the president’s award for his efforts at every club run running around getting everything organised.
Nick Nelson came out on top in the rookies, ahead of Tristan Shepherd and Liam Symonds, while in the juniors Daniel Carleton took the first place trophy ahead of Jarrin Bielby and Jack Thompson.
The KT lights class was taken out by Luke Nardini, followed by his brother Jamie in second and Sally McDougall in third.
Luke took out the club champion award as well, for the third year in a row, so congratulations must go to him on this achievement.
Rachael Anyon took out the KT medium class from Brent Hackett and Angus Bott.
The last class was the oddballs class, which was taken out by Robb McDougall followed by Peter Arnold and Brent Thompson.
Thanks must go to all those volunteers who make the events happen every month, as without them no one would be able to partake in an afternoon of racing.
The night was a fun way to end the year and now the club will have a break until February when it will start getting ready for 2012 WA Dirt Kart State Titles which will be hosted in Wagin.
