Good turnout for kart club run

08 Sep, 2010 02:03 PM
LAST Saturday the Great Southern Kart Club held its September club run, with 55 drivers coming for an afternoon of fun.

The juniors had a good field with 15 drivers taking part.

Tim Ryan dominated the meeting, winning all five races and the meeting, with Joe Chalmers and Jared Bevan in second and third respectively.

The KT lights class again had some close races, with 12 drivers nominated, with Adrian Haywood narrowly taking the meeting out from Ben Butcher and Luke Nardini.

The 125 lights class was low on numbers for this meeting with only five drivers, but those that turned up all still had a good night.

Gary Bielby won the meeting from Brad Pages and Terry Mavay.

There were four drivers in the rookies class, which is for juniors who have just started to develop their driving skills before moving into the bigger fields in junior lights and junior heavies.

Thomas Callaghan won the meeting from Ashleigh Dean and Jye McKenzie.

The KT medium class fielded 11 nominations, which made for good racing from all involved.

Hayden Thorpe took out the top honours from Neil Morrell and Ross Chard.

In the oddballs class, Robb McDougall won the meeting narrowly from Adrian Haywood and Peter Arnold.

There were only four drivers contesting the J open class, with Cameron McKenzie taking the win from Joel Knighton and Jordan McCormack.

The next meeting for the club will be on October 16, with racing starting from 2pm.

Anyone interested in go-kart racing is encouraged to come up and see what it is all about.
