ON Thursday February 4 players came out of the woodwork and with 25 starters they were drawn using both greens.
Bernie Welland, Steve Trowl and Mary Riseborough faced off on rink one 'A' green.
Trowl, fresh from the training run in Geraldton and Riseborough, in her usual good form, were both level on 26 at halfway and maintained the close game to the finish, with Trowl going into the semi-final with 56 shots, followed by Riseborough on 52 and Welland on 24.
On rink two Keith Hutchings, Ian Young and Glen Justins fought out the 22 ends with a game of two halves.
Young jumped out to a big lead in the first half then Justins scored 40 in the second half to gain a semi-final berth, with a total of 58.
Young was next with 48, followed by Hutchings on 26.
On rink three Ron Matters, Diane Stephens and Merv Baker were an even contest from go to whoa, with Baker going into the semi-final with a total of 46.
Then came Matters on 45 and Stephens on 41.
Rink four found Annette Hefford, Michael Deworboies and Jeanette Draper contesting 22 ends and with Deworboies fresh back from Geraldton, he paced to an easy win for a spot in the semis with a total of 64.
This was followed by Hefford on 46 and Draper on 22.
On rink eight on 'B' green were Lisa Deworboies, Bob Stephens and Thelma Douglas, with Stephens finding his touch which has been missing for a while and he progressed to the semis with as total of 70.
Deoworboies was next on 33, followed by Douglas on 29.
Rink nine, with Nerida Monck, Davida Mitchel, Norm Broom and Martin Wood, was a close game throughout the first half, then Wood failed to score in the the last three ends, letting the girls in, with both of them on 29.
This resulted in a play-off where Monck won her way to the semis, Mitchel was next with 29, followed by Wood on 26 and Broom on 24.
Rink 10 with Ross Hunt, Denny Dunham and Leanne Cook saw Hunt in his usual scrounger form and holding a good lead at the first half.
He went into the semi final with 50 and Cook came home well to add 27 for the last half, for a total of 42, with Dunham next on 40.
On rink 11 was Ben Pearce, Mark Oakley and Phil Harris, with Pearce finding a bit of touch that had Harris playing catch-up and Oakley improving thoughout.
Pearce went into the semis with 58, followed by Harris on 39 and Oakley on 35.
In the semi finals, the winners of the 'A' green played the first semi on 'B' green.
This consisted of Deworboies,Trowl, Justins and Baker with Baker the winner on 10, Trowl next on nine, Deworboies on three and Justins on two.
In semi number two those who had played on 'B' green played on 'A' green.
Stephens, Pearce, Hunt and Monck played off and Stephens scored every end, progressing to the final followed by Hunt and Monck, both scoring on two for a total of six each, while Pearce could only manage three.
The final played on 'A' green between Stephens and Baker saw some good drawn bowls, with Stephens declared the winner on eight and Baker runner-up on four.
Scroungers will be held again next Thursday with names in by 1.30pm for a 2pm start.
