Close matches for final pennants game

11 Mar, 2010 02:53 PM
THE final pennants game of the season for the Wagin Tennis Club was played on Sunday against Wickepin.

Although some exciting tennis and close games were played Wagin went down 22 sets to two. Thank you to Cam Clifton for his organisation of teams and all the players who made themselves available to play.

President Michael Spooner thanked everyone who manned the gates at Woolorama over the weekend.

This fundraising effort goes into the reserve fund towards the replacement of the courts in the future.

Closing day is fast approaching and with only three weeks left of this season players should get along for their last hit out before the winter sports begin.

The next two week’s play will be on Friday nights as usual, but closing day will be Saturday, March 27 from 3pm, with a meal and presentations of trophies to follow.

Although weekend tennis ceases, ladies’ tennis continues on Thursday mornings at 9am throughout the year for anyone interested in continuing to have a hit during the winter months.
