Archery fun day and picnic

21 Jan, 2010 03:26 PM
THE Woodanilling Archery Club will be holding a picnic and fun day on Sunday.

Everyone is welcome to come along to the archery park on Great Southern Highway in Woodanilling for the day, which starts at 9am and continues into the afternoon.

The cost of shooting is $10 per person or $25 per family of four.

People are also invited to play a round of golf, or play darts or archery cards.

There will be a sausage sizzle afterwards and everyone is asked to bring along a plate of salad and sweets to share.

Bring your own bow and old arrows.

Replies for catering would be appreciated by phoning Keith Schurmann on 98231196.

Mr Schurmann said the day was designed for old members to come along and have some fun.

“We will have 40 targets set up, with a range of different things on them and it will be close range shooting.

“People will be able to test their skills.”

Mr Schurmann said the archery park had proven to be popular since it was established two years ago and people were still turning up to play despite the recent searing heat.

“It is ticking along nicely,” he said.

Mr Schurmann said the next big event on the park's calendar was the Woody Challenge on February 27 and anyone was welcome to compete in this.

He said there would be a variety of challenges that day and people could compete on different ranges depending on their skill.

“We will have one range where the targets are between 100-180m away, nothing too far out of people's comfort range,” he said.

“Then there will be another with targets amongst the bush, which is a bit of a challenge.

“There be a variety of activities and a trophy will be awarded at the end of the day.”

The Woodanilling Archery Park is situated on 25903 Great Southern Highway.
