NARROGIN turned on cool but fine weather for a great turnout of competitors in the Upper Great Southern Showjumping Championships, hosted by the Narrogin Equestrian Association.
Horses and riders came from as far as Perth, York and Katanning to compete in the championships held at the Narrogin Recreation Centre grounds.
Championship organiser Roxie Taylor said it was a fantastic weekend with a great jumping surface and some fierce competition.
The weekend saw nearly 500 rounds of show jumping completed in two arenas with the best showjumpers in the state battling it out for the top honours.
In arena one, one of the state’s top showjumpers, David Dobson, was a big winner over the weekend, taking out the major event of the weekend, the 135cm Dryandra classic on Pico Bello.
Dobson also won the Ray White Real Estate 120-125cm class on Oaks Zena and then piloted Halifax to a win in the 125cm Star Spotter class.
Arena two showcased some exciting riding with the pony six bar and team faults and out events. Local riders Jane Edwards on Benny and Emily Early on Trentlyn Joel came out joint winners in the six bar, jumping an impressive 130cm.
The team faults competition was a fun team event with the Thelwells – Chelsea Langford, Emily Early and Roxie Taylor coming out on top.
