WAGIN Youth Centre had a break from events over the school holidays and is now keen to get things up and happening.
The youth centre is open on Wednesdays from 3.30-6pm and on Saturdays from 1-6pm.
Any Wagin community members who would like to be involved or would just like to see or visit the premises can call Donna on 0409 117 444 or Arthur on 0427 350 351.
Being involved at the youth centre could mean many things, such as being involved on open days as a supervisor.
In doing this, you will meet the children who will form part of the future community and see another side to them; their likes and dislikes, language, groupings and you may be able to teach them a thing or two about Nintendo Wii.
You will also be able to get involved with the kids as they undertake activities such as working with mechanics on the go-karts or playing pool.
You will come understand a bit about today's youth and sometimes figure out what makes them tick.
When next doing your shopping, you could be greeted by a youth by name, a recognition that gives a big buzz to you and to them.
Being a volunteer at the youth centre also can mean being a helper on movie nights, where you'll sit up watching an often strange assortment of movies.
There is also a shed for any aspiring mechanics that may walk through the door and be in need of assistance and direction.
The youth centre runs a lolly stall at the local trots which requires an adult presence and may form part of your duties.
The youth centre is run with a committee comprising a mix of youth and adults.
In the meetings the committee organises events and grants and resolves any issues.
You could also be involved in craft, games afternoons or even cleaning the youth centre.
A roster is run each week in the Argus or you can contact Donna or Arthur for a date that would suit you.
The Wagin Youth Centre needs you; all you need is a working with children check and the centre can help with the paperwork for that.
