Woolorama turns 40

18 Jan, 2012 08:56 AM
WITH just over seven weeks to go until this year’s Woolorama there is no doubt that everyone is busy organising this major event.

Wagin Woolorama is celebrating its 40th year of providing a quality regional agricultural show to its patrons and commercial customers.

Since the shift of the 69th Wagin Show from a spring to an autumn show and with a new name, Woolorama has gone from strength to strength and now boasts gate numbers of up to 20,000 over the two-day event.

This is a major achievement for the 1600 local residents of Wagin from which the volunteer power comes to host this spectacular event.

Friday, March 9, is Free Kid Friday and entry for children under 18 will apply for the entire day.

WA Governor Malcolm McCusker will officially open proceedings at the official opening on Friday.

The opening will be followed by a special birthday celebration and the presentation of the Woolorama birthday cake which will consist of 400 cupcakes.

This year promises to have even more to see and experience with commercial exhibitors selling everything from tractors and headers on the agriculturally focused oval to tea tree oil and hand cream in the home and lifestyle area to trees and headbands in the markets and everything in between.

Big surprises are in stall with well-known icons wondering the grounds and entertainment for young and old in the gourmet eating areas and beyond.

Don’t miss the opportunity to brush shoulders with Sam Kekovich at the popular Wine Baa on Friday, thanks to the generous support of Meat and Livestock Australia and Landmark.

Keep a lookout for 40 colourful Woolys hiding around the showgrounds and be part of the competition to find them all.

Members of the Wagin Agricultural Society all go in a draw to win of 40 prizes kindly donated by the trade fair exhibitors, so join up now to be in the running.

Some competitions are running to commemorate the 40th celebrations.

See the official program in mid-February for more information.

Woolorama is a proud supporter of Australian Year of the Farmer who is bringing an interactive roadshow to the event.

The roadshow will help people celebrate the important role farming plays in Australian life and aims to entertain and educate patrons with interactive displays, a wealth of material and truckloads of fun activities for all ages.

The Woolorama Rodeo is the grand finale to the action packed weekend and promises to thrill and entertain with exhilarating performances by the competitors.
