Wheat bins full to capacity

08 Feb, 2012 11:25 AM
DURING the 2011-12 season CHB in Dumbleyung received 135,000 metric tonnes (mt) - 105,000mt was stored in Dumbleyung and 30,000mt was out loaded to the port.

Jonathan Davidson, who is in charge of Dumbleyung, said it was disappointing to see the quality drop away after the first 100mm of rain.

“From then on most of the grain went general purpose 1 and feed, although 65,000mt of milling wheat was received,” he said.

Dumbleyung’s daily record for the season was 5300mt and the weekly record was 32,000mt.

Jonathon commended his team saying although the receival point operator group was largely inexperienced they worked exceptionally well.

He said the samplers were the best group he had ever worked with.

They displayed exceptional team work and their work rate was second to none.

It is hoped plans for next season will include two 20,000mt bulk heads with a conveyer down the middle.

This will be built in the top paddock and will give Dumbleyung a 160,000mt storage capacity which Jonathon hopes will be filled next harvest.
