THE Starlight Foundation has been striving to put a smile on the face of sick children and their families since its formation in 1988.
Last Sunday, Wagin man Glen Ward helped them to achieve this goal, donating his time to a day of fun in his off-road racer.
The event, which was organised by the WA Off-Road Racing Association (WAORRA), has run annually for the past three years.
Having heard about the event Glen, a member of WAORRA, rang them and volunteered his time and the use of his off-road racer.
The children and their families were treated to laps around the 1.2-kilometre Wanneroo Junior Speedway-Motocross track, with either Zac or Glen behind the wheel.
The more daring children took the course flat out, while those smaller and sicker children were able to direct the driver with their thumbs up (go faster) and thumbs down (slow down) directions.
The event was a great day out, with all food, drinks and ice-creams also having been donated to the cause.
“It was a great day; I don't know who had more fun, us or the kids!” Glen said.
