Wagin fashions compete

01 Sep, 2011 04:00 AM
ON AUGUST 26, eight Wagin District High School students and ex-Wagin student Rachael Retallack travelled to Narrogin to compete in the regional heat of the annual Australian Apex Teenage Fashion Awards.

Wagin was well-represented with Vonny Pangler finishing first in the wearable art section and Rachael Retallack coming third in the wearable art and first in the society and environment category.

These successful winners will travel to Perth to compete against the winners of the other regional heats.

If they are successful they will then travel to Sydney and compete against the best in Australia.

There four categories are day wear; evening; wearable art, in which six Wagin girls are competing; and society and environment, in which three Wagin girls are competing.

“The students have spent two terms and the last few weeks of this term to get their garments just right for the catwalk and are really excited to be participating in the event,” art teacher Shaun Vandenberg said.
