IMPROVEMENTS to the Woodanilling council offices, library and town hall will make using the facilities more convenient for patrons.
People with disabilities who attend functions in the town hall will be relieved to know that there is now a new spacious accessible toilet.
Features include a hand rail, a low-level wash basin and a low-level mirror.
The male and female toilet door signs even have Braille writing on them for vision-impaired users.
Furthermore, new double automatic opening front doors will make it easier to enter the council offices and library for visitors in wheelchairs and gophers and mothers with pushers and young children.
The new features were made possible by a $20,000 Accessible Communities Grant from the state government’s Disability Services Commission together with top-up dollars from Royalties for Regions through the Country Local Government Fund.
“We are pleased to be able to provide better facilities for people with disabilities and families,” shire president Russel Thomson said.
