THE Wagin Woolorama is just around the corner and is shaping up to be another successful showcase of the region’s products and services.
The Wagin Woolorama Wool Agency Designer of the Year competition attracts a good number of entries from all over the State each year.
The calibre and quality of the garments this year was high with judging now complete.
The results of the judging process will not be released until the official presentation on Friday, March 5 in the Ray Johnson Pavilion.
Out of the 12 garments entered in the competition, nine were judged and a winning garment was chosen.
This year once again has seen a lot of garments designed using various felting techniques, with a variety of colours and styles on offer.
The winning garment was chosen in accordance with judging criteria that saw three outfits gaining high points.
The outright winning garment had style, colour, flair and was graded high on technical skill, fit and wearability.
Wool Agency Designer of the Year competition head steward Jan Baxter said she was happy with the result of the judging.
“I can't wait to see the response from the people in the audience when this outfit is paraded in the fashion parades for the first time.
“There have been some wonderful and innovative designs this year,” Mrs Baxter said.
Andrew Johnson from the Wool Agency said he was happy to once again be sponsoring the event.
“I look forward to seeing the garments every year.
“Being involved in this sponsorship with Woolorama is a far cry from my regular occupation of wool buying but it is all connected to the promotion and use of wool and that's good for the industry,” Mr Johnson said.
The presentation and first look at the winning garment from the Wool Agency Designer of the Year competition will be at 1pm on the main stage in the Ray Johnson Pavilion at Wagin Woolorama on Friday, March 5.
