Swimming success for Trystan

23 Feb, 2012 01:06 PM
TRYSTAN Strachan had a successful swim meet at the Country Championships in Narrogin on February 12.

Trystan, who competes as a 10-year-old, gained first place in the 50-metre freestyle in an excellent time of 37.33 seconds.

She was placed second in the butterfly and breaststroke events, leaving her good friend and former class mate Madeline Joy, now of Albany, to take out third place.

Trystan also achieved third place in backstroke.

Sadly Trystan now swims for the Katanning club, as the Dumbleyung Swimming Club does not have any other competitive swimmers.

Trystan trains hard, twice a week in Dumbleyung and three times a week in Katanning, under her grandmother Chris Batchelor and coaches Frank Gaudin and Hans Jankovic.

She continues to post personal best times at all meets attended, which have included Albany, Harvey, Madurah, Peel Aquatic, the Dorsogna Cup, the Country Championships at Challenge Stadium and the Great Southern Championships.

The highlight of the year is always Country Pennants however, which this year will be held in Collie on the March long weekend.
