OVER the past four weeks of term one, Wagin District High School students from year one to eight worked tirelessly as they created individual art to be displayed in the Woolorama Art Exhibition.
This year students had the opportunity to choose which category of the art competition they would like to enter, then use art class time and resources to create their work.
Students frantically drew, painted, dyed and collaged in order to enter sections such as self portrait, T-shirt designs and collages based on special event and special place themes.
The display of art work looked fantastic and was bright and extremely creative.
A lot of really positive comments were made about the work and the effort that students put into their art.
Year eight student Sheldon Ward was fortunate enough to win the $50 first prize in the Wagin
Young Artist award, with Jainna Buck being awarded a special recognition for her work.
Special congratulations should also be given to former student Jeremy Diver, who was the lucky winner of the first Wagin Fine Arts award.
Jeremy submitted an acrylic self portrait that he designed and painted during visual art option classes as a year 10 student at Wagin District High School.
It was pleasing to see a large number of students submitting the art they had made during high school options and lessons from last year.
Congratulations to everyone that entered artwork and to all students that were awarded for their efforts.
