MURRAY Gell has been selected as the new president of the Wagin Agricultural Society after the recent annual general meeting where office bearers for the new term were chosen.
Mr Gell has been an active committee member of Woolorama for many years, has been involved in the sheepdog trials and has been in charge of running the Stockman’s Bar.
He served as vice-president before becoming president in 2003 and 2004.
Mr Gell has served as the vice-president of the Wagin Agricultural Society for the past three years and is excited about taking the reins for the next presidency term.
“I am honoured to fill the position of president for the Woolorama,” Mr Gell said.
“I have some previous experience and am looking forward to applying my skills to the benefit of the event.”
The executive committee of the society remains similar to last year with Wendy Farrow as treasurer, Wendy Pederick as secretary and Lerina Ballard as media liaison.
The position for trade fair secretary is currently still vacant, but it is hoped that Sally Thomson will return as a capable and successful contributor in this position.
Mr Gell said he was looking forward to working with the committee and staff members to see Woolorama go from strength to strength in the coming years.
Wagin Woolorama strives to showcase and celebrate the best of rural WA and will be held next year on Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12.
