New faces at the Argus

03 Nov, 2011 04:00 AM
THERE has recently been a changeover in staff at the Wagin Argus following the resignations of Jacki Ball and Londa Finlayson.

Chelsea Welsh has been participating in school-based work experience at the Argus all year and now that she is old enough, has been employed two days a week with occasional weekend work.

Chelsea will manage her time between working at the paper and school and will complete year 12 next year.

“I’ve always had an interest in photography but since I’ve been doing work experience at the paper I’ve got interested in journalism,” she said.

“I’m really enjoying it and find it interesting. I learn new things every time I go out somewhere new and cover a different story.”

Jen Bickers has also come on board at the Argus and is enjoying doing something new.

“I used to teach science at Wagin DHS from 2001-2004, then I went away travelling, came back to teach in Perth for a while and have been back in town now for about two years,” she said.

“It’s really nice to do something different and I enjoy interacting with the community more.

“Working two days a week gives me a nice balance between the workforce and being a mum.”

Jen and Chelsea have joined branch manager Julie Mangalavite.

Members of the community are encouraged to let the Argus know of any upcoming events either by phone on 9861 1200, fax on 9861 1408 or email waginargus@ruralpress.com
