THE Woolorama New Release section will take a new direction with the appointment of Tim Scott to head steward for 2010.
Mr Scott takes over from his father Tony Scott who has run the section for the past 25 years.
Last year saw a record number of 13 entries ranging from agricultural to recreational and light industrial machinery.
“Last year’s number of entries shows that there are a lot of talented and creative people out there who are continuing to put their financial and physical resources into machinery which will improve efficiency and profits for those of us in the agricultural industry,” Mr Scott said.
The 2009 New Release winner, Gerard Roney of Advantage Feeders, is a sponsor for the 2010 section.
Mr Roney will sponsor a Highly Commended award which has been welcomed by Mr Scott.
“I am very happy to have Gerard on board as a sponsor, he’s an enthusiastic and creative young guy who brought some great products to Woolorama including his Lick/Grain Feeder which was judged the best new release in 2009.
“A highly commended award enables a third prize which will be valuable given the difficulty in separating some very good products that have been in the section in the last few years.”
Mr Scott paid tribute to sponsors and patent attorneys Lord & Co. (offering first prizeof $1000) and McDougall Weldments of Cuballing (second prize $400) for their long-term support of the competition.
“We are really thankful for the support of Kelvin Lord and Gordon McDougall who have made this section the success it has been over many years and we welcome their ongoing sponsorship in 2010.”
The Scotts have paid tribute to retiring judge Harley Pederick of Wagin.
“Harley has been judging the section since the first year I became head steward, his knowledge of all things mechanical, his enthusiasm and sense of humour are the essence of Woolorama,” Tony Scott said.
Entry is free and closes on March 4.
Entries must be in place for judging by 10.30am on Woolorama Friday, March 5.
