NATIONAL model search Miss Country Girl Australia came to Spearwood and held the WA state final at Phoenix Shopping Centre on July 31 in the search to discover real Australian beauty.
There were more than 60 WA contestants that competed in the heats and 33 of those were then selected to enter the final for another chance to compete in front of a crowd of more than 400 friends and family.
After a highly anticipated day by contestants and proud parents alike, two girls were selected as
this year's WA winners as well as two other wild cards which have a chance to be chosen as national finalists in mid to late October.
In first place was Ashleigh Head, 19, from Yangebup and second place was taken out by Lauren Haynes, 17, from Albany.
These two girls will now compete in the national final held in Sydney for the title of Miss Country Girl Australia this November in front of an industry and celebrity studded crowd.
National director Katie Jones said the talent and support in WA was incredible.
“Miss Country Girl Australia hopes to hold another WA state final this year, so I encourage all girls aged between 10-28 to keep updated on the website at www.misscountrygirlaustralia.com. au for another chance to become a national finalist,” she said.
“I would like to give a big thank you to Phoenix Shopping Centre and the WA media and public for their support.”
No experience is required as Miss Country Girl Australia acts as a platform for local girls to enter
the modelling arena.
It can also act as a catalyst for young girls to increase their confidence and/or experience on the catwalk.
Last year was a major success with the national final showcasing 23 girls selected from numerous states across Australia.
Due to the increasing number of participants this year, about 30 will be selected for this year's upcoming final.
