WAGIN’s frail aged care home, Waratah Lodge, was recently awarded with its three-yearly accreditation.
The process started back in November with a two-day visit from the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency auditors and months of hard work and training for the staff.
Manager Sue Harris, staff and board members were required to outline their practices on 44 different standards, covering everything from the care of patients, management of the facility and the environment.
Passing all 44 standards, Waratah is now fully accredited for the next three years, allowing it to access funding and maintain its good reputation in the community.
Mrs Harris said that she wanted the public to know Waratah was doing the right thing by the residents.
“I am hugely proud of my staff and thank them and all of the board members for their hard work and support,” she said.
“We look forward to continuing our good work in the future.”
“With only one bed currently free, Wagin residents who require respite or permanent care for their loved ones need to get in quick.”
