Locals claim national titles in Hobart

TWO local entrants have won titles at the National Junior Judging and Handlers Competitions.

Kurt Wise of Woodanilling and Bayden Reid of Darkan joined three other Western Australian finalists at the Royal Hobart Show last week for the competition.

The five participants representing WA came back with the State’s best ever results, winning three national titles.

Kurt, of Wililoo Merino stud, won the 2009 National Junior Fleece Judging Champion sash while the National Junior Meat Sheep Judging winner was Primaries Darkan representative, Bayden.

The other WA winner was Natalie Burke, WA Agricultural College, Denmark beef agricultural instructional technical officer who won the National Junior Beef Cattle Judging.

Others to represent the state were Rick Wise of Wililoo Merino stud, Woodanilling, who was placed third overall in the national junior Merino sheep judging, and Lachlan Fry, Katandra Park Holstein stud, Benger, who competed in the national junior dairy judging competition.
