THE Woolorama photography exhibition attracted more exhibitors than in previous years and was a major drawcard for visitors.
There were 54 exhibitors entered this year with 530 photographs on display.
Last year 49 exhibitors entered.
It ran in conjunction with the Western Australian Photographic Federation (WAPF) competition, in which there were 80 photographs, resulting in a display of 610 photographs.
The WAPF competition is sponsored by Woolorama and is a team event drawing entries from seven camera clubs around the State.
This year’s theme was ‘Waiting’ and Busselton, Bunbury, Albany , Esperance, Foothills, Northern Exposure and Wagin entered.
Wagin and Bunbury were the joint winners with the same number of points.
The individual photography winners were Glenys Ball from the Wagin Camera Club with her photograph Waiting at the Drafting Gate on first place, Waiting for his Girl by Denise Aitken of Bunbury on second place and Still Waiting by Peter Evans from Northern Exposure on third place.
This competition was judged by the Photographic Judges Association of WA.
In the separate Woolorama Photography Competition entries came from far and wide with a notable increase in the small print classes for the casual and less experienced photographer.
Judge Caroline Telfer was impressed with the quality and emphasised the importance of presentation and printing when entering competitions.
Her tips to future entrants were to remember to clean the lens with the softest cloth before shooting, always use top quality photograph printing paper and most importantly have your printer serviced regularly.
Judges can spot easily the indications that the photographer’s printer is letting them down.
