Funding for school building

02 Jul, 2009 02:27 PM
WAGIN District High School will get $2.05 million in Federal Government funding to build a new multi-purpose block.

The new construction will feature two additional classrooms and purpose built art, music and store rooms.

The building will be located behind the canteen.

Once the school receives a site plan, it will be made available to interested parents and community members.

Building is expected to start early in second semester.

The school received news of the funding in the second round of funding of Building the Education Revolution program from Federal Education Minister Julia Gillard.

Ms Gillard said 3,716 Australian schools will receive $6.3 billion in funding for the construction and refurbishment of major infrastructure, including libraries and multipurpose halls under round two of Primary Schools for the 21st Century.

The $12.4 billion for P21 will deliver much needed funding towards building or renewing large scale infrastructure in all primary schools, special schools and K-12s (primary component), for works including libraries, multi-purpose halls and new classrooms,

with many of the P21 projects beginning in June 2009.
