WAGIN Police, members of the Wagin Fire and Rescue Service and members of St John Ambulance Wagin sub-branch attended a car rollover last Thursday, three kilometres west of Wagin.
The 70-year-old passenger in the car, travelling from Perth, died as a result of her injuries, while a mother and her baby were flown through to Perth with serious injuries.
Police officers from Major Crash also attended the scene of the accident and are conducting an investigation.
The next morning, Friday, November 11, Wagin police attended another accident on the Albany Highway near Arthur River.
Sergeant Paul Lydiate said it appeared the male driver had fallen asleep, veered off the road and crashed into two trees.
Local St John Ambulance members also attended the accident, where the man was lucky to escape with minor injuries.
“Fatigue is a major contribution to most traffic accidents,” Sergeant Lydiate said.
“I want to remind the public to be vigilant when driving, watch your speed and take rests.”
In a separate incident, Wagin Police apprehended two juveniles and charged them with associated offences in relation to various vehicle break-ins recently.
The juveniles were identified and charged as a result of information and assistance from members of the public and they will appear before the courts in the future.
“This is a reminder to all concerned to lock up your cars at all times and to keep your valuables out of sight,” Sergeant Lydiate said.
