AFTER more than three years of discussion, suggestions and possibilities, Flexitrans’ first set of tankers will cart predominantly liquid fertiliser on the road.
Flexitrans is an independent carrier of liquid fertiliser for farmers who use CSBP, Summit and SuperFert.
This is an exciting step for Dumbleyung Transport owners Darran and Carmen Bairstow, who started the bulk transport business in 2003 with the purchase of a prime mover.
It was sub-contracted T E and M C Bairstow of Wagin.
In 2004 the opportunity arose to purchase Brian Bracknell’s truck business which was established in 1952 in partnership with Danny Bairstow.
After 52 years of trucking, more than 6 million km covered and a high level of punctuality, Darran felt the challenge to meet the high standard set before him.
The client base has grown, ebbed and changed with the influence of other local trucking businesses, farmers buying into bigger trucks themselves and outside carriers.
With the introduction of the cartage of liquid fertilisers, the business will be trying to create more uniformity of work throughout the year to lessen the effects of the highs and lows that is so prevalent in the agricultural transport industry.
Darran and Carmen are looking forward to the year ahead in all aspects of farming, local businesses and rural communities.
